OSCAR Dragon Boat Race 2016 · 16 September 2016 ·

We are Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity. We stop at nothing to help give seriously ill children childhoods that are fuller, funner and longer. Because we believe no childhood should be lost to illness.

Story

On Friday 16th September, members of the Marine Underwriting and Claims teams will once again be taking part in the OSCAR Dragon Boat Race to raise money for lifesaving research into childhood cancers and immune diseases. The OSCAR campaign is a fundraising partnership which unites the international shipping community to raise vital funds for Great Ormond Street Hospital, and its research partner the Institute of Child Health.

The campaign is led by Phil Parry, Chairman of Spinnaker Consulting Ltd, whose son Oscar was diagnosed with leukaemia at just three years old and over five years, received three life-saving transplants at Great Ormond Street Hospital. Oscar was nominated to become the first patient ever in the UK to receive a ground-breaking stem cell transplant. He is living proof of the importance of pioneering research.

Please note the team who raises the most money not only gets the glory of knowing that they’ve made a huge difference to children at Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity but also gets a head start in the race! The team will consist of Sophie Barrett, Jeannie Schreiner, Josh Cantwell, Peter Ferguson, Alastair Russell, James Garratt, Hugo Lewis, Chris Crane, Sean Bellamy, Ross Phillips and Rianna Lee.

Many thanks,
The Talbot Marine Machine.
