Talia's Bat Mitzvah Project

Talia Pierson is raising money for American Friends of the Rambam Medical Center

Bat Mitzvah · 30 May 2021

The American Friends of the Rambam Medical Center is an organization established to promote and support the Rambam Health Care Campus — a premier medical institution in Israel.

Story

I have a large extended family in Israel and many family members that have gone to Rambam for care. For instance, my great uncle on my mom’s side just recently received care there. One of the most important reasons I am raising money for them is that one of my young cousins passed away when she was just 5 years old and Rambam is doing research about the disease that caused her death.  Her father, Guy Cohen, has been raising money for Rambam and this research by participating in extreme competitions such as long distance swims, runs, and other events. Guy has inspired me to raise money for this hospital that is doing such important work everyday as well.

For my bat mitzvah project, I am raising money for a medical clown named Brambola Festiktata. If you don't know, medical clowns go to hospitals to visit sick children and put smiles on their faces. The medical clown I have chosen plays the ukulele, harmonica, and dances for sick children to entertain them and make them laugh.

This project spoke to me because I know that these kids are scared and their parents are very worried, so being able to have a little distraction is so special to them.

Please join me in raising money for this important cause.

Thank you,

Talia Pierson
