My name is Talia and I am a member of a very small Orthodox Jewish Community in Nottingham.
My Bat Chayil will actually be the last to take place in Nottingham, unless someone new moves to the town and joins the Shul (my dad tells me that this is unlikely).
My Bat Chayil, will also be relatively unique because it will take place on the same day, July 8th, as my brother Zachary’s Bar Mitzvah. I have been to a number of Bar Mitzvah’s and Bat Chayil’s but I have never been to one where a brother and sister have shared this very special day together.
What will make the day even more unique is the fact that the service will take place in a marquee at our house.
We are very grateful to everyone for the support that they are giving to make this possible and we recognise that holding a service in your garden is not the easiest thing to make happen.
As my Bat Chayil gets closer and as part of the work I have been doing for it, I have also decided to raise some money for charity. I would like to ask everyone who is able to support me to please do so and give
very generously.
I will be supporting:
- The Horse Trust – This is the oldest horse charity in the world that was started in 1886. It was originally started to help the working horses in London, but now it has become the largest provider of equine welfare grants in the UK and it provides lifetime sanctuary for retired horses, ponies and donkeys. As I am a very keen horse rider I would like to be able to do something to feel as if I can support horses that give me and many other people so much enjoyment.
On Sunday 25th June, I will be running for 3.6 miles around Colwick Park in Nottingham. Once I have run around it, I will be getting on my bike and cycling the 3.6 miles around it. Apparently after all of that we will be having Pizza!!
However, I won’t be doing it alone. My brother Zachary will also be doing this and our wonderful Cheder teacher, Sarah, who is truly amazing will be going with Zac and I. Sarah has said she is coming out of retirement (after marathon running) to put on her running shoes and come with us. I do feel a bit guilty that we are making Sarah come with us, but we would not want to do it without her.
Please support me by giving generously to the charity that I am supporting.
Thank you.
