Story

Welcome to my Kili Trek fundraising page in aid of Giving Africa!

Support me to raise funds for an amazing cause to support Burkina Faso, the second poorest country in the world, to open it's first school and help change a community for the better!

Over the last couple of years I have raised money for Children with Leaukaemia and Cancer Research by running the New York and Paris marathons however after I completed the Paris marathon in April I really wanted to do more, to be more involved in a charity and to complete a different type of challenge, one that will also take me on a spiritual journey. Craig Goldblatt the founder of Giving Africa arrived at Maris earlier this year to tell us more about the charity and we have embraced it as our own. Maris now support Giving Africa, we are all involved in one way or another raising money but in June 2013 ten of us have decided to put our bodies on the line to climb Kilimanjaro to help raise some serious funds for a very worthy cause!

Giving Africa has a mission to improve quality of and access to education and vocational facilities to benefit the most impoverished children and communities. To form strong partnerships in the UK and Africa and through the power of learning enable and empower people to step forward, lead and make a difference; both in their lives and for their global friends. The vision of an Africa whose children have the oppurtunity to create empowered communities and live healthy and prosperous lives.

Everyone can make a difference and this is just one way to get involved to give something back to those who have so little but still have so much spirit and joy in their lives. It is truly inspirational and one day I would hope to be able to not only raise money from the UK, or via a challenge such as Trek Kili but to visit the community and offer something in person. Craig tells me the experience and what the community give to us is far more rewarding than you could ever realise.

Please sponser me and help change a community by giving to this wonderful charity. Please find the link to the Giving Africa website below for those who are interested in knowing more or indeed getting involved and perhaps doing your own Kili Trek challenge!
