Most of you will be aware that my mum suffered for 27 years with reumatoid arthritis before she died last July.  RA is a horrible debilitating condition whereby your immune system somehow gets out of control and begins attacking the cartilage that protects joints causing pain, inflammation and disability.  Joints can become permanently deformed as a result of repeated inflamation, which for my mum meant a series of operations, and eventually she died as a result of inoperable damage to her spine. Nobody knows what causes RA, it could strike anybody at any age (even children), and though treatments have improved (partly due to research funded by this charity) there is no cure. I would really appreciate it if you could spare a few pounds for this cause.
