Story
TASLIM DHARSSI
1976 to 2017
In August 2017, Taslim Dharssi sadly passed away following a long and brave battle against metastatic breast cancer. She will be greatly missed by her many friends, family and work colleagues. Her untimely passing is a huge loss to all who knew and loved her.
We would all like to thank the nurses, doctors and staff of the Royal Marsden hospital for the care and medical treatment given to Taslim. Sadly, there is no cure for metastatic breast cancer.
In memory of Taslim Dharssi we ask you to donate to The Institute of Cancer Research to support the very important work performed in promoting research to discover better treatments for cancer and provide patients with the best possible care. All funds raised will go directly to the charity.
Taslim was a spirited, bright and kind woman who had a love of travel and made friends easily. She was a loving daughter, sister and aunt. Taslim was always a very caring and compassionate person. In 1997 during her university years, she spent a year in Nepal undertaking humanitarian work with the Voluntary Service Overseas organisation.
Taslim was born in London in 1976, the fourth child of Mr and Mrs Badrudin Dharssi. Taslim was extremely bright and at the age of eleven gained a prestigious place at the independent Godolphin and Latymer School. After excelling at school and achieving three grade As at A-Level, Taslim went on to read Economics and Social Politics at the University of Manchester, graduating with a first class honours degree. In 2001, Taslim joined the Department of Trade and Industry through the Fast Stream selection process and through her hard work and formidable talent achieved rapid promotion to the position of Assistant Director in the newly transformed civil service department of Business, Skills and Innovation.
Taslim is survived by her mother Mrs Jasmine Dharssi, her elder brother Imtiaz, her elder sisters Lubna and Zhara and her younger brother Afzal. She was a loving aunt to her nieces Jessica, Rebecca, Jasmin, Sophia and Alyssa, and her nephews Kieran and Zeeshan.
