The Big Ride for Africa 2018 · 20 June 2018 to 21 June 2018 ·
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
The Big Ride for Africa is one of the key
fundraising events in the Lessons for Life calendar, and this year is the 10th
anniversary so the event will be held in Ireland, the birthplace of Lessons for
Life.
Last year, none bar one of the Programming Team participated in
the German edition of the Big Ride for Africa. The true hero of the team was
Arien Verlaat, who crammed in 320 kilometers with a total ascent of 5 km in and
around Cologne, contributing towards the 1.2 Million Euro that was raised for
the Lessons For Life Foundation. More information about last year's ride can be
found here: https://www.lessonsforlifefoundation.org/big-ride-africa-2017
This year, the rest of Team Programming will be back and we will join Arien in
Ireland, for what looks like a beautiful, but challenging course through the
Wicklow mountains. On June 20th and 21st Arien Verlaat,
Peter Fox, Cornelius Schauer, Dennis Bekenkamp, Greg Matson, Alan Ogston,
Jeffrey Barton, Lukas Kernel, Jeroen Bergman and Bob Leighton will join around 500 of our colleagues and
business partners.
We will have the option to do 50 to 160 km cycling routes
per day, and can even partake in a half or full marathon on day two, either
running or walking. The aim is for all of us to participate in the 100 to 160
km per day cycling routes.
Thanks to the amazing generosity of John and Leslie Malone we will
be setting up basecamp near Dublin in the beautiful surroundings of
Castlemartin Stud Farm in County Kildare on the edge of the stunning and
challenging Wicklow Mountains.

Our target is set and now we are counting on
you to help us achieve an even greater result for the Foundation and, most
importantly, for the children in Sub-Saharan Africa. By donating you are giving
the gift of education and help more children have the chance to finish school.
By supporting children to go to and stay in school, you are giving them the
chance to realise their dreams. They will have the chance to grow up and create
their own homes in the future, supporting their own children to go to school and
get an education too.
Please donate what you can to help us reach our target
and help get kids learning.
