Story
18 months ago at his cousin's wedding, Michael was set the challenge of completing a sponsored bike ride. This was included on his bucket list that we recently found, along with the desire to revisit and show Jess the views from the top of Arnside Knott, the Lake District to the north, Ingleborough to the East and Morecambe Bay due west.
This was where he used to walk regularly with his grandad as a young boy, up through the woods, whilst looking for the chocolate tree, where my dad would hide sweets, when he knew Michael was coming to visit.
So on the weekend of 11th/12th May this year, I will be riding a 170 mile adapted version of the "Way of the Roses" starting at the top of the Knott and finishing in Bridlington. Stephen has volunteered to do it with me, but I have told him that I can't keep looking round and waiting for him !! Jess will be a good companion though.
The proceeds of the ride will all be going to Marie Curie and hopefully in particular to the hospice where the brilliant staff made Michael so comfortable and couldn't have been more caring during his last ten days.
The half way mark is around Boroughbridge, where we will be staying on the Saturday evening and when we have sampled them all !!, we will enjoy spending time at one of the town's pubs, where all are welcome to join us to share a drink and a chat. (Details later)
So if you have any spare change please donate it here and help us raise a significant amount to benefit others and help us achieve something worthwhile in Michael's name.
Words cannot express our gratitude to you all for reading this and your continued support.
