St Leonard’s Hospice is an independent charity, providing care and support for local people with life limiting illnesses. We have an In-patient Unit, Sunflower Centre and Hospice@Home service. Our care is free of charge to patients and their families but not free to provide.

Story

Fresh from the dance floor of their work’s Christmas Party, Laura and Will have decided they’re ready to take on the big time after wowing their colleagues and bar staff with their Beyoncé and dad dancing respectively.

They have worked together for the last two years at SBL and when Laura found out about Strictly St. Leonard’s, Will took very little persuading to join her.

Laura’s illustrious career started at the age of 5 starring as a little white duck on the stage of New Earswick’s Folk Hall. Unfortunately, despite dazzling the audience, her parents decided her younger sisters had more potential and as such, Laura’s career was put on hold. After suppressing her dreams of dance stardom for more than 20 years, she is now ready to dust off her dancing shoes for charity.

On the other hand, Will’s dance career has seen him perform on stages around the world including Ibiza, Berlin, London and New York. Even though his silky smooth moves wowed the audiences, the security and management did not appreciate his merry, unplanned escapades and he was swiftly escorted from the nightclub.

St Leonard’s is an important charity to SBL - many employees have received support from them which is why they are one of three proudly supported charities for 2020. This is an exciting opportunity for Laura and Will to learn some new skills and raise money for a great cause.
