Team Hope are Stepping Out in May

Sarah Nicholson is raising money for Hope Against Cancer

#TeamHope are ‘Stepping Out’ in May · 7 May 2021

We have funded over 100 research projects tackling many forms of cancer. In 2012 we opened a dedicated clinical trials centre at Leicester Royal Infirmary to offer patients access to new medicines and therapies. We also fund two nurses who add to the care and support trials patients receive.

Story

To coincide with International Clinical Trials Day on May 20th, please support our 9,000,000 step challenge throughout May to raise vital funds for Hope Against Cancer. Hope Against Cancer have so generously supported us over the last 9 years. Without this we would not have our amazing Hope Cancer Trials Centre at Leicester Royal Infirmary. Opening originally in May 2012 and recently expanded, we have a wonderful facility to treat patients and deliver vital research to help find new treatments for cancer.

International Clinical Trials Day celebrates what is thought to be the first clinical trial, which was famously conducted by navy doctor James Lind in 1747, to find a cure for scurvy among sailors. The day is recognised worldwide to raise awareness of clinical trials and encourage more people to take part in research.
