Aspire Channel Swim 2014 · 1 December 2014 ·

Every two hours someone in the UK is paralysed by a spinal cord injury. It can happen to anyone at any time and no one is prepared for how it will change their life. Aspire is a national charity that provides practical help, supporting spinal cord injured people from injury to independence.

Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit our page.

We are swimming for Lara and her family and this wonderful charity who help thousands of people like Lara, whose lives are changed in an enormous way in a second.

Over the next 12 weeks we will NOT be swimming the Channel BUT aiming to swim 127,280 lengths in 25m pools, which is equivalent to swimming the Atlantic from Shannon in Ireland to Gander in Newfoundland. Lara's air ambulance stopped in both these places to refuel before arriving in Chicago.

Every eight hours someone is paralysed by Spinal Cord Injury. It can happen to anyone at any time, and there is currently no cure. Every pound that we raise means that Aspire can provide practical help to a spinal injured person, allowing them to live a more independent life.

Please do join Team Lara 14 and let us know how many lengths you have swum so we can keep a tally of the distance or simply donate what you can and help us make a difference. Thankyou

Liza, Adrian, NIcky, Annabelle, Sophie B, Sophie Mc, Cindy, Fiona and Apple and everyone involved in Team Lara.
