Hearing Dogs for Deaf People trains dogs to alert deaf people to important and life-saving sounds such as the smoke alarm, alarm clock, intruder alarms and baby monitors. These amazing dogs also help deaf people to leave loneliness behind by providing love, companionship and emotional support.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

We are a group of friends who support Hearing dogs for Deaf people - MyselfWill Clapham, Heidi Bonwick, Amanda King, Jo Suter, Julie Tarran, James Kelberman.  Some of us run the Croydon and Surrey Hills fundraising branch.

My own hearing dog Smudge is due to retire shortly he has been working for 10 years now. He has helped me and my family tremendously. Enabled me to be more independent and also making people more aware of the hidden disability.

We all enjoy walking and thought it was a good idea to push ourselves out of our comfort zone by doing something more challenging. So on Weds 28th June we are setting off from our camp to hike up the 3,560 feet (1,085m) of this iconic mountain. None of us has attempted anything like this before so we are excited to be pushing ourselves. Please share our JG page and donate if you can. Our target of £1,000 means we can help towards training a new Hearing Dog like Smudge…”

Hearing Dogs has so far trained 150 dogs during the year 2016-2017. We still have a long waiting list and as the charity relies solely on donations, fundraising, Will's dontations. We are constantly fundraising to train many more dogs like Smudge.
