The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity raises money solely to support The Royal Marsden, a world-leading cancer centre.

Story

Four plonkers and a baby are marching* to raise money for the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.

On Sunday 4th March, Pippa, Gareth, Anna, Paul and Nellie will be taking part in the Marsden March to raise money for the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity. We will be walking between the charity’s two hospitals, in Fulham and in Sutton, a total distance of 14 miles. All the money we raise will be donated to the charity to support care and research at the two hospitals.

As many of our friends and family are aware, the Royal Marsden has been very important to the Testar family over the past seven years, having treated first our dad in 2011-2012 and since 2016, our mum as well. At both their hospitals in Fulham and Sutton they have provided our parents with the very best treatment, both as inpatients and outpatients, and through various types of chemotherapy, radiotherapy and surgery. At every moment they have offered ideas and solutions to whatever complications have been thrown up, and generated a consistent sense of positivity that we in turn have absorbed, not least because the hospital and its staff create such a friendly, caring and supportive environment. We would like to raise money to ensure that others can continue to benefit from the same
excellent care and treatment that our parents have.

For anyone who does not know much about the Royal Marsden, they do not just provide patient care and excellent equipment, but also put a lot of money into researching new treatments for all forms of cancer. We have always been deeply impressed by the developing range of new treatments that have been suggested at different stages of our parents’ treatment.

Any donations will be very gratefully received, and thank you very much for taking the time to read  this!

*Disclaimer – Only the four plonkers will actually be walking. As the saying goes, don’t run before you can walk. And don’t walk before you can eat solid foods.
