#TeamUSA - for Refuge · 28 September 2013

Refuge opened the world’s first refuge in West London in 1971. We support thousands of women & children every day, experiencing domestic and sexual violence, female genital mutilation, forced marriage, stalking, trafficking, prostitution & so-called ‘honour’ based violence.

Story

I am Socorro Toro Piontka - my closest friends call me Soqui.

I live in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in the United States.

I'm proud to be a part of Running4Refuge (you can meet us all on twitter - @Running4Refuge and you can tweet with me @PiontkaToro) - I'm the team captain for #TeamUSA!

Running4Refuge is a charity fundraising group supporting the UK based charity 'Refuge' - which provides shelter and support for victims of Domestic Abuse throughout the United Kingdom.

Our team goal for Running4Refuge is to raise £10,000 (slightly over $15,000) before the end of April 2014.

#TeamUSA is going to take on a 288ft rock climbing challenge - and once we scale this incredible climb, we have no option but to rappell/abseil back down again!

The proceeds from #TeamUSA will go to The United Way, the Blackburn Victims Domestic Abuse Centre, and the FOP, here in Pennsylvania - but all of the donations made to me here on this site will be donated to Refuge in the United Kingdom.

Domestic Abuse is a global issue. We are reaching across the Atlantic Ocean to join hands and make a substantial difference to the lives of real people.

Please donate as generously as you can afford x
