Elle's dad, Willie, has been feeling unwell since October last year. On 2 May 2015 Willie was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease. This is devastating news for him and the family, especially his daughter, Elle. The family are all struggling to come to terms with this diagnosis and what it will mean for all concerned. We are trying to remain as positive as we can and Elle has suggested that we try to do something to help raise awareness and funds from MND Scotland. MND Scotland carry out research into this disease and provide support for sufferers and their families.
We plan a series of challenges which will no doubt involve me punishing myself on a bike. Elle has suggested a distance tandem ride but she hasn't done much training yet. Time to get the finger out Elle. If any of Elle's friends would like to encourage her on her training rides (if she ever gets round to them) they would be very welcome. We also plan to climb Criffel during the summer holidays. Have I told you about this Elle? If not, you know now.
However, to kick things off Elle, friends and family plan to hold a two hour silence on Sunday 21 June. Elle chose Fathers Day for her dad and for all dads. They can communicate in writing but they are not allowed to speak. If you know them, you will appreciate how difficult a challenge this will be.
Elle's mum, Angela, has set up a Just Giving account linked to MND Scotland. We would ask you to please give what you can to this wonderful charity. We would also ask that you provide comfort and emotional support to all the family at this difficult time. Please also share this message. Thank you for reading and thank you for your support.
