Story

I'm hoping to raise funds so that women can have quicker access to breast screening, assessment services and receive a faster diagnosis!

In NI at the moment, there are longer than acceptable delays when women are referred for further tests by their GP.

A friend has recently been diagnosed with breast cancer and would have had to wait over 4 weeks for a scan etc on the NHS. So unfortunately had to go private to get all of the tests performed on one day, which meant a faster diagnosis which means that any treatment required can be started without delay!

So you can imagine that on top of the worrying news from a GP, the delay to screening etc would be emotionally very stressful on all the family while waiting for access to standard NHS services..... hopefully I can raise funds to help Action Cancer support people and save lives by getting women faster access to screening and diagnosis!!

I am running the 4.2 mile section of the Team Relay in Belfast City Marathon!!!

This is part of the fantastic School of Maths and Physics (QUB) Relay Team: Slower Than The Speed of Light!!!

Fabulous Team Members are:

  • Prof Bernie Hannigan Leg A (6.8 miles) – Stormont (Start) to Ormeau Park
  • Mrs Teresa Cotton  Leg B (4.2 miles) – Ormeau Park to Boucher Road
  • Prof Dave Riley Leg C (4.2 miles) – Boucher Road to Falls Road
  • Dr Steve White Leg D (5 miles) – Falls Road to Duncairn Gardens
  • Ms Hannah Donnelly Leg E (5.8 miles) – Duncairn Gardens to Ormeau Park (Finish)
Thanks a million for your support guys!!!!!!
Couldn't do this without the support of the team and our official manager....Prof Bill Graham.
