We are proud partners of Outdoor Swimmer Henley Swim Festival 2023, taking place on Sunday 9th July 2023. Join us to save our rivers and help communities to thrive.

Story

Next week I will be part of a team of 6 inspirational women swimming the length of lake Geneva - at 70+km long, the largest lake in central Europe.

As I take on this challenge I am raising money for The Rivers Trust. We need healthy rivers to tackle climate change and rebuild the health of our people and planet.  The Rivers Trust are  river experts who bring together the people, knowledge, data and intelligence to help rivers thrive again. With their expertise, reach and member Trusts local knowledge, they work with farmers, government and businesses to find long term solutions to improve the health of rivers and their catchments.

This year The Rivers Trust have partnered with The Outdoor Swimmer Henley Swim Festival 2023 to ask us to race to revive rivers and communities. I will took on the 4x1km event on the River Thames through Henley as part of my training programme towards my main challenge - swimming Lake Geneva.

Lake Geneva swim itself is a classic swimming endurance challenge. The Signature Lake Geneva Swim, also known as 'The Ultimate Trophy Swim', traverses the length of Lake Geneva from Chillon Castle in Veytaux to Bains des Pâquis in Geneva. At approximately 70km it is twice as long as the English Channel and made up entirely of fresh water flowing directly from the stunning alpine scenery that surrounds it ( yes, think snow field and glaciers - its chilly!). This swim is the ultimate challenge and a considered by many to be one of the toughest open water swims around
