The Big Bike and Hike 2014 · 24 May 2014

Tamil Aid is a small charity with an aim of relieving poverty and distress in the war and tsunami affected areas of Sri Lanka. We provide help to local charities, schools and care homes who look after children in Orphanages and for educational projects. Trustees and volunteers work free of charge.

Story

On 24th May 2014 we will be taking part in the Building Blocks Hiking Challenge with our mum Meera.

This will involve hiking for 9 miles across the Isle of Wight come rain or shine.

Building Blocks are a charity that work together with Tamil Aid to help orphaned children and children from deprived parts of the community. So much work has already been undertaken including rebuilding an orphanage dormitory, providing clean water to 16 orphanages and running medical and dental clinics (you can read about these projects at: www.tamilaid.org and www.buildingblocksuk.org) - but there is still so much more to do.

We are lucky to have lovely parents that take care of us and everything we need. We are lucky that we live in a country where it is normal to have food, water, education, healthcare and a roof over our heads, but this is not the case for many children in northern Sri Lanka. For orphans, even having someone to take care of them is a luxury. Can you imagine how hard life must be in these circumstances?

We want other children to be as happy as we are. We can't help their past but we can change their future.

Please donate generously and make a difference today.

Thank you,

Suganya, Santhana & Dharman
