Story
A team of 12 people all of which are family and friends are to take the 117 mile coast to coast challenge from Morecombe to Whitby on the 2nd May 2014. The team are all local people that range between 17 – 54 years old and all non-cyclists. We are cycling for 2 very worthwhile charities which are “The Circle Of Hope” & “Macmillan Cancer Support”.
The names of the people cycling are: Sarah Smith, James Atkinson, Mark Whitaker, Katie McManaman, Lee Stretton, Melanie Stretton, Daniel Sutcliffe, Peter Walker, Mike Barker, Paula Hyland, Lewis Hyland, Andrew Etheridge
The Circle of Hope was formed to raise awareness in the Yorkshire region of the plight of people suffering with a brain tumour. Founding members: Jim Murphy, Gill Murphy, Sarah Smith & Linda Wood have all been touched by this illness through the loss of family members and some very dear friends. Our charity is intent on seeing a cure for this dreadful illness and we chose Brain Tumour Research as our main benificiary over other charities because the funds go directly to research.
We hope therefore that if we dig deep into our stamina through our activities then you will dig deep into your pockets to make a difference.
Why Are We Doing This ?
In the UK 16,000 people are diagnosed with a brain tumour each year and more children and people under the age of 40 die of a brain tumour than any other cancer - yet brain tumour research is woefully under-funded.
The Circle of Hope are aiming to change the status quo and bring better hope and care to thousands of brain tumour patients and their families. Please help us raise funds for the Brain Tumour Research Charity to fund world class brain tumour research programmes.
