Thanks for visiting “The Last Legs” Estates Development Big Walk 2018 Just Giving page – Whilst it’s a good read, if you could donate as well that would be handy! A team of 6 of us from Estates Development are taking part in the University Big Walk to raise funds for the PET-MRI Scanner Appeal (There’s details below if you’re struggling to sleep one evening).
We are (left to right) Brian Evans, Helen Lally, Claire Hudson, Dave Holland, James Cox and Emel Kus-Senior (Or as Mark, our Manager, likes to call us Dave, Dave, Dave, Dave, Dave and Dave). We’re taking part for numerous reasons – Brian and Dave because they’re weird and like doing sporty things, Helen because she was bullied in to it by Dave and Claire, Claire because she is incapable of saying no, Emel because she is still new and therefore more enthusiastic than the rest of us and James because he’s trying to get over the humiliation of having to stop “early” after 37.5 miles last year. Really we’re all doing it because Dave Walker needs something to do until he retires.
Everyone else seems to be saying that this reduced distance will be much better than last year but buses were invented for a reason and that reason is for when you need to cover 26 miles so why we’re walking this is anybody’s guess.
Claire has done some training and hit 18 miles already. The rest of us are doing less well, unless you count walking from the Arts Tower to the University Arms for lunch one day as training in which case we’re more than ready for the challenge.
Here’s the bit we have to put in:
Why are we doing this?
We are raising funds towards the University’s £2 million fundraising campaign for the Sheffield Scanner - a ground-breaking MRI-PET scanner facility, and the first of its kind in Yorkshire. The Sheffield Scanner will represent the next leap forward in medical and imaging research and have a crucial role for research and patients in many areas of medicine, including cancer, neurodegenerative diseases such as Motor Neurone Disease, Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s, heart disease, diabetes and stroke. We’re well over half-way to our target of £2 million – please support the Big Walk 2018 and help us reach our final goal! Further information about the Sheffield Scanner can be found at www.sheffield.ac.uk/sheffieldscanner
So please donate to this fantastic cause which will have a terrific impact for everyone in Sheffield, South Yorkshire and beyond. THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING THE BIG WALK 2018 AND THE SHEFFIELD SCANNER CAMPAIGN!
