The Helen Rollason Cancer Charity is dedicated to supporting people whose lives are touched by cancer. Our support includes the provision of; complementary therapies, counselling, support groups, work shops and so much more, to enable quality of live whilst living with cancer.

Story

As some of you already know, Beth was diagnosed with Breast Cancer at the start of 2016. Life has, since then, been a rollercoaster of a ride, and even today the fear of cancer has remained close by. Whilst the timely intervention of the NHS means that said fear is probably unfounded, physical wellbeing isn't everything. Without the help and support of the Helen Rollason Cancer Charity, and their amazing staff and vision, we don't feel that we would have survived the last few years quite as well as we have. Although there are always going to be good days and bad, there comes a time when 'enough is enough'! It is time to turn our experiences into something positive, and give back a little of all that we have been privileged enough to receive.

Back in 2020 (yes, that year!) Dave planned to run a marathon to raise money for this charity that means so much to us?! Especially when you happen to be a fighting fit stroke survivor too! Never one to take 'no' for an answer, and having initially been refused a place in the London Marathon, Dave signed up for Edinburgh instead. Then came an offer that was just too good to refuse... Helen Rollason had but a couple of charity places remaining - he was only contacting them to ask for a t-shirt! - and so two marathons, two cities and all in one month it was supposed to be! Crazy... That was the plan at least, however the world had other ideas. One global pandemic, several locks downs and two virtual marathons later (yes he did them), THIS is the year Dave finally gets to run the London Marathon in London.

We are choosing to celebrate life, with all it's ups and downs. It won't be easy, especially as there were - and still are - times when we didn't believe that this would be possible. If you feel able, we would like to ask you to support us in our latest adventure. Thank you.
