I am Karen Penny, and am currently walking every historic county boundary in Britain and Ireland for Alzheimer’s Research UK.

I have already walked over 10,500 miles around the full coastlines of Britain, Ireland, and 110 islands. Now I am tracing the inland story the ancient pre-1974 borders, one step at a time.

A journey of a further 20,000 miles.

I walk in memory of my family and for all those affected by dementia.

I walk to raise awareness.

I walk so others may live better, longer lives.

Most of the walk I do alone, except for Baggins, my lively Border Collie pup, and Mark, my husband, who is supporting behind the scenes with maps, logistics, and van-life heroics. It is team effort, full of heart and hope.

I am proud to walk #ForACure supporting Alzheimer’s Research UK’s campaign to bring about the first life-changing dementia treatment by the end 2025. Every step we take is a step towards that goal.
