Thom Veitch's cycle for the Borders Dialysis Unit

Thom Veitch's cycle for the Borders Dialysis Unit · 1 May 2020
Thom has chronic kidney disease and needs haemodialysis treatment to replace some of the functions his own kidneys can no longer manage. Three times a week Thom is attached to a machine for over three hours while wastes and excess fluid are removed from his blood.
Along with other vulnerable people at high risk of severe illness from coronavirus, Thom is currently shielding. This means that other than going to the hospital for dialysis he cannot leave his house.
Thom has chosen to use this difficult time in a positive way. He has taken on the challenge of using his home exercise bike every day during the month of May to pedal the 95 miles of the Tweed Cycleway from Biggar to Berwick-upon-Tweed. That's around 5km or 3 miles for 31 days with increased bike resistance for the hilly sections!
Please support Thom with his challenge. The money you donate will go directly to NHS Borders The Difference endowment fund 82 for the Borders Dialysis Unit. It will pay for extras not provided by the NHS that help keep patients safe and comfortable during their regular treatment sessions. The endowment fund is used to buy items like exercise equipment, art materials, newspapers, TV headphones, cushions, hand warmers and aromatherapy massages.
