Cycle to Milton Keynes Marathon · 2 May 2016

Chance UK supports young children (5-13 years) who struggle with their emotions and behaviours. With one-to-one mentoring and family support, children are empowered to grow their confidence and resilience, so they can build brighter futures for themselves.

Story

The plan:

Cycle through the night and early hours from London to Milton Keynes (60miles), hop off my bike and stuff my face with carbs then run a marathon (26.2miles). Then pass out.

The reason:

Last year I mentored for Chance UK. I spent every Sunday with a brilliant 8year old lad who hadn't had the easiest time in his life so far. I taught him how to fix a puncture on a bike, and he tried to teach me to rap. It was one of the best things I have ever done, but I wouldn't have known about it had my girlfriend not researched mentoring, as she did it too. So I am doing this to raise awareness about this charity, encourage people to mentor themselves but also because Chance UK doesn't get anywhere near enough funding for the seriously important work they do for young people.
