Story
On July 27th Billy, Harry, Jacob, and Patrick will tackle the National Three Peaks Challenge, with a target to complete it within 24 hours. The National Three Peaks Challenge entails climbing the three highest peaks of Scotland, England and Wales – Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike, and Snowdon – where the total walking distance is 23 miles (37km), the total ascent is 3064 metres (10,052ft), and a driving distance is 462 miles between peaks. The team will endure physical and mental stress, demanding mountain walking, and sleep deprivation, whilst hopefully also taking-in some amazing scenery and supporting each other to safely complete our mission.
The final team member is Matt, who will be providing the essential logistical support – driving, food preparation, etc. Also Matt will join Billy, Harry, Jacob, and Patrick for the Mount Snowdon climb.
We are doing this to raise money for Wipe Away Those Tears which is a small charity providing help and equipment to terminally or critically ill children is Essex. We have been personally touched by this charity due to the extremely generous donation they made to a close friend, Jake Whiteside, who was diagnosed with cancer in 2016 when he was only 15 years old. Unfortunately, following aggressive cancer treatment Jake’s mobility was severely impaired, which left him mostly bedridden. Wipe Away Those Tears provided Jake with a fully electric wheelchair which allowed him to return to school and enjoy time with friends despite his lack of mobility. Although we tragically lost Jake only 10 months after his diagnosis, the times we shared together thanks to his wheelchair made a world of difference, both to Jake and the people who got to see him every day. This amazing charity has no overheads or administration fees, so every penny raised goes directly to changing the lives of some very special young people, just like Jake.
We also have a second cause we are raising money for, please feel free to check it out here:
