Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On the 5th October I will be taking part in rough runner to raise money and awareness for the treatment of the Neurological condition FND (Functional Neurological Disorder). This is the condition which my mum has been diagnosed with in the last two years.

Unfortunately due to the lack of awareness and funds there are very limited services for those who suffer and people often get neglected and left in very vulnerable circumstances.

During the progression of my mums FND, she has become wheelchair bound unable to walk and often unable to talk. She suffers from seizures, pain and paralysis most days where sometimes her breathing and swallowing is also effected. My mum has spent most of her life as a nurse and has always cared for and given to others before herself, so it’s sad to see the quality of her life be taken from her. Unfortunately it is not a curable condition and with very little research the outcomes of those who suffer vary and are unclear.

Symptoms may appear similar to those found in MS, Parkinson’s, stroke and Epilepsy, though the underlying cause is different. People diagnosed with a Functional Neurological Disorder are not part of a homogeneous group and require an individual approach to treatment and care.

So any donation no matter how small would be really appreciated to help towards further research and providing treatment centres.

THANK YOU! ❤️
