Hereditary Angioedema (HAE) is a rare inherited disorder, affecting only 1:50000. It causes episodes of swelling of the hands and feet. The small intestine is frequently affected, causing intestinal obstruction.The face and throat can swell and may cause obstruction of the upper airways and death due to asphyxiation. Thankfully this complication is rare. HAEUK is a charitable patient organisation  which supports families with this condition. It raises awareness and promotes research.

Starting on the 02/07/2017 I will ride the Raid Pyrenean. 750Km from the Atlantic to the Mediterranean over 5 days. Being a mountain region there is 11,000 metres of vertical height to be gained in the process (Everest 8,848m).
