The Great Lakes Tarn Challenge · 27 March 2015

Motor Neurone Disease moves fast. It takes away time, it takes away independence and it has no cure. Every day we support people affected by MND. We fund ground-breaking research. We campaign for better care. We’re here for everyone who needs us. Because with MND, every day matters.

I've decided to dedicate a challenge I set myself back in 2014 to my Grandfather, Brian, who sadly passed away, soon after being diagnosed with MND earlier this year. He lived in and loved the Lake District and was an adventurous soul who achieved so much in his life. I'm hoping to better support those with MND and their families through the Motor Neurone Disease Association.

The challenge is to swim all 234 Tarns and 16 Lakes of the Lake District by the longest length across. This is the official number of Lakes and Tarns, not including reservoirs and those on private land, published by John and Anne Nuttall in their books, The Tarns of Lakeland. I haven’t set a deadline, the plan is to just get out swimming whenever the weather permits!

Please support by sponsoring even the smallest amount to a great cause.
