Trailwalker UK 2019
Campaign by Oxfam GB (RCN 202918)
100km. Teams of 4. 30 Hours. 500 teams will trek across the South Downs Way in September 2019, raising money for Oxfam and The Gurkha Welfare Trust.

Story

On September 21st to 22nd, Team 'Bhat dinu hos' ('give us rice' in Nepali) have committed to complete the Trailwalker event described, as 'a gruelling 100km non-stop 'ultra challenge'' in the UK across the South Downs, involving climbs equivalent to Ben Nevis (x2!).  In our team of four 'mature' ex-servicemen we have our own more colourful descriptions based on previous experience.

The event raises money for the Gurkha Welfare Trust (GWT) as well as for Oxfam. We are confident that all funds raised will be put to effective use by both charities and the programmes supporting Gurkhas and their families in Nepal and further afield will benefit hugely. They deserve our support.

The GWT ensures that Gurkha veterans, their widows and their wider communities are able to live with dignity. They achieve this primarily through the provision of financial, medical and community aid in Nepal. Having witnessed their work in the field over three decades I can vouch for their efficiency and that 'funds reach the front'.

All of the team members are conscious that we all get asked to contribute to a multitude of charities on a seemingly daily basis so if you are able to make even a small donation we would be very grateful.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
