Story
Rechargeable batteries have become prevlant in pretty much everything we use. But when an old battery tool or laptop stops working, it's usually because of the battery NOT because the tool itself breaks.
EEH is looking for old tools which you've replaced, to refurbish and provide for use to the community. We're also looking to take old laptop cells and to grade/reuse and recycle them. So dust off those old tools with their chargers and email tim@eehack.space to arrange drop off/collection. The tools will make up our community library - free for people to borrow. We'll also be repairing laptop batteries on donated laptops we provide to disadvantaged kids and the disabled - something we can't do now.
Even completely dead cells can be revived with the right tools and equipment, and kept out of landfill, hence this fundraiser!
We are looking for funds to purchase:
- Battery spot welder (£110)
- Bench power supply (£60)
- Battery balance charger/discharger (£20)
- Batteries & Charging circuits (£110)
- If we get additional funds, this will go towards items such as saws (track/recipricating/jigsaw etc), consumables (blades, drill bits etc)
The equipment will also be available for use at our electronic workbench.
