Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On the 31st of January I shall be taking part in the Tough Guy challenge as part of the Ford Motor Company (Dunton) Team. They were the first corporate team to return last year. So pride is at stake!

This event is an 8-mile cross country obstacle course in South Staffordshire. Amongst the challenges likely to be encountered will involve  fire, electric fences, narrow tunnels, hills, cold water, rope bridges and climbing frames of various sorts and heights. (You can YouTube 'ToughGuy' to find out more).

As you can see from the photo I am using my compost bin to prepare for the cold water element!

I am partly motivated to do this to relocate my moral fibre and backbone that has long since waned due to my current desk bound lifestyle. However the prime motivation is to demonstrate my support to those British Service personnel who have returned home injured from Afghanistan or Iraq.

The charity is called 'Fund for Heroes', and is linked to the Tettenhall Wildlife Sanctuary, part of the land of which the Tough Guy event is held.

'Fund for Heroes' works with the following military charities:

      - The British Limbless Ex Servicemen's Association

      - Ex Services Mental Welfare Society

      -  Scottish War Blinded

      - St Dunstan's

      - Grenadier Regimental Charities

      - Special Air Service Charities

It does this by providing satisfying and rewarding employment opportunities for disabled members of the armed forces. Work is provided both at the Wildlife Sanctuary, and within the Tough Guy HQ Events Organisation.

Providing meaningful employment allows the individual to progress beyond the more physical aspects of rehabilitation, and gives the opportunity to maintain the self-respect and dignity rightly deserved.

Thank you for taking the time to read this, and thank you again if you have decide to donate.
