Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

As an Ambassador for the  Salisbury District Hospital Stars Appeal MRI ScannerCampaign, I am writing to ask for your support.

At the end of January I will be climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania.  At just under 20,000 feet, it is the highest mountain in Africa. The reason for the climb, apart from a middle aged crisis, is to raise money for Salisbury District Hospital Stars Appeal’s campaign to raise £1.5million for a second MRI Scanner.

A second MRI scanner at Salisbury will enable over 10,000 people each year to have their MRI scans faster, and here at their local hospital, avoiding the need for them to travel to other hospitals as some patients currently have to. It will enable us to introduce new techniques in areas such as stroke, cancer diagnosis and crucially, from my point of view, dedicated cardiac MRI scans. We can’t currently offer these in Salisbury but it would make such a difference to my patients if we could.

About the charity

The Stars Appeal is the NHS charity for Salisbury District Hospital. Every day Stars Appeal funded projects help hundreds of patients across all wards and departments and support the NHS staff who care for them. Please tell us if you wish to support a specific ward, department or cause. Thank you
