We’re Age UK and we’re here to make sure every older person feels included and valued. Whether it’s providing free information and advice, tackling loneliness and isolation or campaigning for older people’s rights – we’ll be there. Your support makes it possible.

Story

Another year another challenge!

At the end of April, Lamees and I will be rowing across the North Sea in an effort to raise money for- the Credit Suisse charity of the year - Age UK!

1.2 million older people are chronically lonely. Loneliness can be devastating, it causes depression, increases the likelihood of strokes and heart attacks by a third and doubles the risk of Alzheimer’s disease.

With Credit Suisse’s support, Age UK will help over 30,000 older people by offering vital advice, support and friendship

The route starts in Ramsgate/ Kent in the UK going to Nieuwport in Belguim. It is 56 nautical miles and, depending on the conditions on the day, it could take anywhere between 15-24 hours!

We are joining a team of 16 across 2 boats (and the two of us are obviously on seperate boats to avoid the possibility of a domestic at sea...! :D

I hope you will support us in fundraising for this worthy charity by sponsoring us with as much as you can spare. Both the charity and us will appreciate it greatly.

Please dig deep!
