I got approached by my best mate to run the Edinburgh marathon in November and I thought it was a great idea and decided to include the Surrey half marathon as I seem to enjoy a challenge. However i then had the challenge of trying to decide which charity I should raise money for, as every charity is as worthy as the other. After some thought I deicded I would raise funds for SASH Charity, which stands for the Surrey and Sussex NHS trust Charity. 

The Charity aims to help with investment in state-of-the-art equipment, improving the hospital environment benefiting both patients and staff, providing specialist training and clinical resources and supporting ground breaking health research. The reason behind my decision was simple, during my time here I have had the pleasure of meeting many members of staff that are extremely committed to their jobs.

The staff are committed, ambitious, driven and all share the common goal of wanting to provide the best patient care possible, whilst giving patients and their families the best experience they can. this can mean working long hours under pressure.

Therefore I thought the best way I can show my appreciation is to put myself under pressure and set myself the challenge of completing the Edinurgh marathon. I have never run a marathon before, the longest distance I have run is about 7 miles, so it is definitely going to be a challenge. I hope that at each hurdle I may encounter during my training and also during the marathon, I will have the charity in mind which will help me to push through till the end.
