Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
So I am now two years from my diagnosis and currently treatment free. Yay! I am making the most of things whilst I can and doing what I know - physical exercise. However, those that know me will know that I am no endurance athlete; 2 minutes around a track was as good as it got! Riding 120km a day for 4 days will be a challenge.
Exercise does help to keep me sane and actually helps with the fatigue I get after my Stem Cell transplant; better to be on a bike than falling asleep on the sofa.
Like many I had never heard of Myeloma. My what? No it's not a skin cancer, but a bone marrow cancer. Here is a cool video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4-2xw9efsuA
There are very few symptoms: fatigue, bone aches. And that is probably the only thing you'll notice! Mine was spotted because my kidneys were not functioning properly - but who would spot that? I was lucky. It was picked up early - which makes it more treatable in the short term, but there is no cure. I am not after sympathy here, but the more people that are aware the better.
Myeloma UK is an excellent charity that really does provide support and help to people with this incurable, but treatable, cancer and helps fund research. Hopefully a cure will be found at some point (soon!).
