Those of you who know my Dad (Bill), will know that he has trekked in some of the world most amazing places over the last several years (Grand Canyon, Iceland, Sahara Desert), supporting Love Hope Strength, and their tireless work giving hope to people and families affected by cancer. Now its my turn to join him! This latest trek in THE ALPS marks the return of Mike Peters, who founded LHS ..... he was unable to join the group in the Sahara last year as he was beating leukaemia for the 3rd time.

I am 24 years old and have always had a keen interest in fitness and sport, although my post University body may have contradicted that. I really wanted to challenge myself this year, when my Dad came to me with the idea of joining him on his latest trek. I am so proud of what my Dad has achieved through these treks, and feel it would be a memorable experience to join him on his latest venture. LHS lies very close to our hearts, as leukaemia was a part of my Grandad's story at the end of his life 23 years ago.

I'm passionate about Love Hope Strength (LHS) because the charity is committed to giving hope to people living with cancer across the globe. Through its "Get On The List" programme, LHS helps identify marrow donors to match those in need of a second chance of life ...... so far approx 4,500 of those who have registered in this way have been identified as potential life saving matches. LHS also supports life saving and life changing equipment and special projects aimed at supporting some of the most vulnerable people affected by cancer internationally.

The LHS co-founders (Mike & Jules Peters) and many of those involved in the charity have their own experiences of living with a cancer diagnosis. In order to make a lasting difference for others, LHS has pledged to work with partner organisations that provide insight into their evidence-based research and who share their knowledge to help advance cancer prevention, early detection, diagnosis, treatment and care.
