Story

We're swimming 10km down the River Dart as part of the Dart 10k in September 2015. 10km (6.2miles) is the marathon distance of swimming events and this will be the longest we have ever swam.

Tom:
I've never been much of a swimmer and before I started training I couldn't do two lengths of a pool without taking a break to catch my breath. I'm near the end of a 3 month training plan and I'm so proud of how far I have come. 2 months into my training I completed my first ever 5km swim in a reservoir. It only took me 1hour and 50minutes...

James:
Even after what I’ve achieved (athletics wise) in the past this is still a daunting challenge. It’s 3 times further than I’m used to swimming and a good few degrees cooler than my local lake and even more so than the pool. I also have the added pressure of being used to open water swimming and as such can’t really afford to lose to Tom.

We're fundraising for CP Sport. A brilliant charity who organise sporting events for children with Cerebral Palsy. Tom's attended 2 of these sporting events so seen first hand the work they do and the difference they may. The days are just a place of fun, where children can try out many activities, make new friends and build up their confidence.

Please spare what you can.
