Swim Serpentine (Two Miles) · 16 September 2023 ·

WeSeeHope is a charity committed to creating sustainable change for vulnerable children in East Africa through education, child rights and economic empowerment initiatives.

Story

I’m attempting to complete the two-mile Swim Serpentine event on the 16th September 2023, in Hyde Park. Training is underway, swimming at Shepperton Lakes a couple of times a week, and I’m hoping I’ll have done enough in time for the event! I’m trying to raise as much as I can for WeSeeHope, which provides children in Southern and Eastern Africa who are vulnerable to isolation, exploitation and lack of opportunity with access to community-led education, child rights and economic empowerment programmes.

Developed and delivered in partnership with a network of local NGOs, these programmes teach children skills to change their own futures and WSH work with their families and communities to make sure they are supported along the way.

I’ve seen the work WSH do with my own eyes, visiting various community-led programmes in Malawi last October. Vulnerable children are easily exploited without vital support to teach them valuable skills that open-up opportunities for a sustainable future.
