Just over a year ago my beautiful wife Mary was diagnosed with Breast Cancer and overnight our lives changed forever.

You read and hear a lot about cancer but never really think it will happen to you or the ones you love. When it did happen to us - it was surreal, hard to believe or take in - our lives were suddenly put on hold.

Our eyes were opened to a cold new world - we didn't realise just how many women (old and young) were afflicted by this terrible illness.

But the level of care, the advancements in science & treatment for Breast cancer were truly amazing - and thanks to the support of our friends, families and the fantastic level of care offered by the States of Guernsey, Mary has made terrific progress.

By running the SportingBet Guernsey Marathon I'm raising money for Cancer Research so that further advancements in treatments for cancer can be found and more people who find themselves in the position we were in last year can be helped and given hope.
