Hardmoors 30 · 7 January 2023
We are taking on the Harmoors 30 on 7th January 2023 to raise awareness of and money for Menfulness, an inclusive social community of men based in York. With support from their partners, they provide fun, supportive activities that help to improve the wellbeing of people like us.
We are fairly experienced runners. However, we genuinely expect this to be one of the toughest challenges we have ever faced. In what is likely to be difficult conditions, we are aiming to complete the 30 mile race across the hilly North Yorkshire Coast within the 10 hour time limit (https://www.hardmoors110.org.uk/hardmoors-30/).
Why Menfulness?
They host and support loads of stuff including breakfast clubs, physical activities such as football and walk and talks, hair school and counselling amongst loads of other brilliant things, all helping men in York to get and stay well.
We have personally benefited hugely from Menfulness support. They've helped us to build our confidence and strengthen our relationships with both our children and each other. Most importantly, they've welcomed us into a very special community, founded on lived experience and with a relentless determination to improve the mental health of it's members like us.
We have decided to target £300 specifically as this will cover the cost of counselling for two men like Tom and I. I have previously benefited from Menfulness funded counselling at a time when I really needed it. We'd love your support in helping Menfulness continue to fund this life-saving work.
We appreciate that things are not easy right now and so please only donate if you can really afford to do so. Aswell as hopefully raising money for Menfulness, we also want to raise their profile and would really encourage you to get to know them better (https://menfulness.org/ & check out their social channels too). If you or someone you know might benefit from joining this wonderful community, please please do. Tom and I are happy to buddy at an event if that'd help.
Thanks for reading.
