Story

UPDTATE: Thanks to everyone who sponsored me. It really did help me push myself for those last few miles and I made the finish line in 3:47:51! Not quite my target but 15 mins better than Rotterdam 2009.

-----------------

This Sunday I'll be running the London Marathon. As a ballot place runner I don't have to run for charity but I decided it was too good an opportunity to miss to raise money for one of the smaller medical charities out there.

It's taken me a while to choose a charity to run for but everyone told me to run for a cause that's important to me. Nine years ago this month my mum died suddenly from a pulmonary embolism. There was no warning and until that day I knew very little about the condition. Every year in the UK 25,000 people die from blod clots that develop while a person is in hospital.

The Thrombosis Charity is working to increase awareness of thrombosis among the public and health professionals and to raise research funds to improve patient care through improved prevention and treatment of venous thromboembolic disease. Last year they were awarded the Health And Medical Reseach Charity Award in recognition of the success of their “Stop the Clots” campaign.

So when I'm reaching the 22 mile point and feel I can go no further I'll be thinking of the money you've helped me raise and the hope that it might help save lives like my mum.

Please give what you can, even if it's just a pound! All will be very gratefully received.

p.s. I'm aiming to finish in 3hr30mins so wish me luck!
