Toni's London Marathon 2022

London Marathon 2022 · 2 October 2022 ·
I am running the London Marathon in 2022 for #Teamstroke as a nod to my mum, Kim.
My mum suffered a nearly fatal stroke in her late 40’s. I will be raising money and running VLM 2020 to reflect the huge struggles that she has endured, without complaint since her stroke.
My mum’s stroke was so acute that she not only nearly died but lost the ability to walk, talk, swallow and was rendered completely paralysed on her left side. She went from a healthy, completely incredible family & businesswoman, to severely disabled in 6 hours.
Through pure grit, determination and stamina, she is walking, talking, working and enjoying life surrounded by her family who adore her and have learnt to love her new brain which gives her the most inappropriate sense of humour lol
Running for #teamstroke in admiration of my mum comes with mixed emotions for me, which surprisingly includes resentment. I hate what happened to her and the impact that it still has on her. I hate that no one ‘fixed it’ when it happened.
I would give every penny I had in my bank account to buy her back what she lost but as with these things, that’s impossible. A bitter pill to swallow.
If the money raised on this page for #teamstroke can prevent what happened to my mum & my family, happening to someone else- please, please dig deep.
Let’s raise awareness, support & treatments for anyone suffering such a horrific event.
Thank you SO much for your support, it means the world.
Love Toni xXx
