Story
I did a 10k run recently and have been planning a ten mile for a while. This time I thought I would do it for charity and my choice for this is autism.
The reason that I chose an autism charity is because my son Harrison (aged 10) is on the spectrum.
Things can be very hard for him at times as is the case for all children/adults with the disorder.
He can go from being absolutey fine to then having a massive tantrum where he destroys things and is not able to understand feelings etc.
Autistic people see, hear and feel the world differently to other people. If you are autistic, you are autistic for life; autism is not an illness or disease and cannot be cured.
This isn't just about Harrison, but all those who suffer these issues. Sometimes its heart breaking to watch.
I know there are worse things in the world, but I want to try and help raise the awareness of autism so that people know others suffer. I get the impression people think, 'what a terribly behaved child that is', when they see some sort of tantrum. Unfortunately, these tantrums are ten times worse of a normal child and people don't understand. So, if any money raised can be made to help awareness, provide more experts in this field, day out for children/adults, more facilities and most importantly improve people's life, then that would be greatly appreciated.
I've babbled on enough! If you can spare any pennies as I run my cotton socks off in a 30 degree heat in 2 weeks, that would be amazing.
Then on to 13 miles.....
