Story
My Auntie tells me that in her younger days my Mom could be very stubborn, with a quick temper. However, as soon as she had my sister and later me, she turned into a "mother hen". That is certainly how I remember her and I think it is a very apt description of her. She was the most loving and selfless person that I have ever met and she dedicated her life to her children and grandchildren.
We started noticing symptoms of mental problems around 2009/2010, this ultimately led to a diagnosis of Alzheimer's Disease. I guess like many people who first encounter a disease I didn't know a lot about Alzheimer's at the time of the diagnosis. I found a YouTube video which I remember as being the most helpful for me to get a basic initial understanding of the disease and to comprehend the path my mother was on. If you would like to know a little more then I would recommend that you watch that 3-minute video:

Mom passed away in March 2014 after a traumatic journey for her and her family. So in memory of her and to support the Alzheimer's Society a few family members are taking part in the Memory Walk 2016.
There has been some recent and exciting news in the area of Alzheimer's research. Hopefully your contributions will help support future research to help eradicate this terrible disease.

I have included photos of what she held most dear, her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was very proud of them and she would also be of the new additions too :-)
