Story

P.S. I did it everyone!!! I crossed the finish line in 2 hours 14 mins. It rained constantly throughout the race and I have never felt so cold and wet!! But it was all worth it.Thankyou so much to everyone who has sponsored me so far, and for all your supportive comments. It means alot to me!! Thankyou also to my friends Clare and Lisa. I couldn't have done it without you!! And a big thankyou to hubbie Glenn for giving me his coat at the end of the race, and for making me the best bacon butty when I got home, and the best Sunday dinner for tea. I love you xxx

Oceanne was born on bonfire night 2003 and we always laugh with her saying she was too excited to see the fireworks! She was born at 28 weeks 5 days weighing just 2lb 12oz.

The first few days of Oceanne's life were the scariest days of my life, and there were times when I honestly thought I was going to lose her. My husband Glenn was my rock and never gave up on Oceanne. He was the first person to see Oceanne after she was born and from the moment she held his baby finger in her tiny palm in the incubator, he always believed she would pull through. It was his strength that made me believe this too!

Our story is a success story and thankfully Oceanne grew from strength to strength with no major setbacks. She spent over 12 weeks in hospital, including her first christmas, but came home a healthy baby.

Oceanne was our first born and there is nothing that prepares you for the shock of looking at your tiny baby, with tubes attached, fighting for their life in an incubator. You feel so helpless. We will always be eternally grateful for the specialists and nurses who worked so hard to save Oceanne's life in those first crucial days.

Oceanne now age 6 is a born fighter and has a real joy for life. She is a loving daughter and sister, can swim, is a passionate gymnast, has recently passed her primary ballet exam, is a flyer for her cheerleading team and has just started tap dancing. I am sure that everyone who helped to save her life would be so proud of her now and how far she has come. I know we are!!

It has always been a wish of mine to raise money for the Special Care Baby Unit at Arrowe Park Hospital where Oceanne was born, and for this reason I have chosen to enter the Warrington Half Marathon on October 3rd 2010. With both my children now at school I have found the time to do some training, although 8 miles is the most I have managed, and next Sunday is going to be a killer!!!

I would like to raise as much money as I can for this worthy cause, to say a huge thankyou for Oceanne. The work that takes place in these special care baby units is fantastic, and the staff are so dedicated. Any donations you make would help towards saving more babies lives.

Love Tracey, Glenn, Oceanne and Shannon xxxx
