Story
I'm Tracy in my 50's and dabbler of jogging 5k’s round my village. I completed a number of 5k races years ago but not ventured as far as 10k. When Ben (my eldest son) said he was going to get fit we all laughed, we think he's realised that a dad belly can arrive even in your 20's!! 😂 So the challenge was set to get fitter and both complete Run Norwich 2023. Will experience or age win??
As I work for Norfolk Community Health & Care NHS Trust Charitable Fund I see first hand what a difference donations can make to the patients, families and staff. NHS funding will only cover what is required to support patients and staff but the charity adds the extra touches to make treatments and care more pleasant for patients and their families and supports staff with extra training and well-being.
The last year alone has seen the charity fund outdoor spaces for patients, visitors and staff to get back to nature and take a break. Temporary wheelchair ramps for patients at home awaiting assessments and slings to move patients in their home to avoid calling out extra support. TV's for wards and Christmas presents for those in hospital over the festive period and a visit from miniature donkeys have helped bring cheer. I-pads and specialist programs have been purchased to help patients recover speech after strokes and over 300 staff have been given the opportunity to learn basic British Sign Language to help communicate better with patients and colleagues.
With this in mind there was no competition for us to raise money for any other charity. Please help us continue to make a difference to hundreds of patients and staff.
Thank you for supporting us and if you want a laugh come and watch us struggle over the finish line. 🥵🏃🏼♀️🏃
