Sands supports anyone affected by the death of a baby, works in partnership with health professionals to try to ensure that bereaved parents and families receive the best possible care and funds research that could help to reduce the numbers of babies dying and families devastated by this tragedy.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page and to read my story.

This time last year (June 2018) my daughter Lauren and her partner Jamie were enjoying and preparing to be parents for the first time, Lauren had endured the morning sickness and everything was moving along as expected, the love that was already felt for their unborn baby by all of our large extended family was immense.

Move forward 12 weeks (Sept 7th 2018) they were at home sorting out the nursery adding the final touches. I was getting ready to run the GNR for the first time when I received the devastating phone call from Lauren to say that she had been for a 25 week scan and they could not find a heartbeat  THE WORLD STOOD STILL.

Beatrice was born the following evening.

Our whole family were and still are devastated by the event, you cannot imagine the sense of loss for someone that you have never met but already love. You grieve for the child lost but you also feel helpless as to what to do to comfort your child.

This is where organisations like SANDS help to give guidance to parents, family and others.  They are a support network that everyone can access and can receive help with practical and sometimes painful advice on what happens next.

Lauren and Jamie are trying to raise awareness of Stillbirth by talking about their daughter Beatrice and their experiences. When I said I would run the Great North Run again this year in Beatrice's memory they asked that I run to raise awareness and funds for SANDS.

I have included Lauren's blog address if you would care to read how they are coping with the loss of their daughter Beatrice through stillbirth and by sharing information  to help others who may find themselves in the same tragic situation.

Please take you time to read Lauren's blog it is amazing (proud mum here).
