I've been doing quite a bit of running this year and it has been HARD! Some weeks I run four times, sometimes in the rain! I completed the Great Newham 10k run in July in Stratford round the Olympic Park in 1 hour 5 mins, it was hot and hilly and tough. I then joined Slimming World, lost 14.5lb in weight and I'm running sub-30 5k's. See, giving up biscuits and cake...hard work!!!
But this one is for 'fun'! Me, Rach and Alison are running/jogging/walking 5k round the 'Secret' Nuclear Bunker in Ongar, wearing tutu's and having paint thrown at us. There's a weather warning for strong wind and a chance of rain too, so surely that's worth a sponsor?!?!
Once again I am supporting Kicks Count. The above photo shows me and Dan walking out of hospital as new excited/nervous parents with newborn baby Lucy. Tragically, 16 sets of parents in the UK do not do this as their babies are born sleeping. Only 10% of these babies have a fatal congenital abnormality meaning we could potentially save 90% of these babies through empowering expectant mothers with knowledge and confidence on the importance of monitoring baby's movements.
I've spoken to so many parents who have lost their babies. I cannot imagine the heartache they go through. But they somehow live with their grief and do inspirational things for this charity. These runs are for those parents xx
