Countryside Mobility Coastal Tramper Challenge · 30 September 2015

The charity has spent thirty years working throughout Devon and the South West to ensure that people with disabilities and Deaf people can live the life they choose. The charity was founded in 1990 by Peter Swain OBE following a life changing spinal injury. Run and led by disabled people, 71% of our Board of Trustees, 39% of our staff and approximately 89% of our volunteers are disabled or Deaf which means that we have lived experience of the issues facing disabled people. Annually, over 10,000 disabled and Deaf people, their families and carers, benefit from LOD services, including training, volunteering, outreach projects and accessible support services. It is a user-led organisation, meaning we have a first-hand understanding of the issues faced by disabled and Deaf people.

Story

Countryside Mobility is one of a number of projects run by Living Options Devon, a charity that works to ensure those with disabilities can live the lives they choose. (Here's a short video that shows you how: https://vimeo.com/140819559)

It's our 25th anniversary and as part of a programme of fundraising we thought we should get out on the Trampers. And with our friends at South West Coast Path inviting people to sign up for Coastal Challenge in October we thought here's the perfect opportunity.

So in the 2nd half of October we'll be visiting each and every one of our coastal sites and exploring them by Tramper. From Durlston Country Park in Dorset down to St Michael's Mount and up to Heddon Valley in North Devon we'll be clocking up the miles...whatever the weather!

So cheer us on, and, if you can, please give what you can to support the life-changing work of Living Options Devon.
