Story

You are going to need to sit down for this one…….  Your eyes do not deceive you…Team TPS have entered the Yorkshire Marathon for 2015.

Halleluiah I hear you cry!!  At last Rob Bettison’s naturally honed athletic physique, superior lung capacity and stamina will be unleashed on the unsuspecting public.  Crowds will line the streets to see John Hacker storm his part of the challenge, without a hint of having legs like John Wayne, and Rugby League Weekly’s twitter feed will go into meltdown when a ‘race-ready’ Andy Raleigh limbers up to undertake the longest stage of the race (because that’s what it is, it’s a race…..this is not for fun, it’s a serious business).

By the half way point there is good chance that Team TPS will be up there with Mo Farrah and his pals but alas we then hand over to the girls – a motley crew of Rachael, Georgina and Charlotte who will try (as best they can) to get us over the line.  Whilst some people have already taken the challenge seriously and are fully focused on a training regime and diet programme, I’m afraid others are more bothered about whether Nadiya’s bread is going to rise or how unfair it was that Stu (daft hat to one side) was sacked off in week one just because he totally disregarded the tasks set for him….sound familiar Andy??

Why take on the Yorkshire Marathon I hear you ask?  Well without wanting to point the finger it is all Georgina’s fault.  When she was appointed TPS Social Coordinator we thought more along the lines of times to be at pubs and fish and chip Friday coordinator but she has bravely put us forward for this.

Add to this Andy’s long association with The Laura Crane Youth Cancer Trust and given the extent to which cancer has impacted hugely on our families and friends we thought it a really good opportunity to give something back (and for Rob Bettison to finally buy some new trainers).

We hope you’ll agree it’s a really worthy cause, we greatly appreciate any support you can give us and we personally promise to forward photographic evidence of the state we are in after our respective stages of the marathon to all those that support us.  This in itself has got to be worth £10!

Thanks,

Team TPS
